Acerca de Young Rising Sons
Fusing a savvy contemporary pop sound with a streetwise rock & roll vibe, Young Rising Sons formed in 2010 in Red Bank, New Jersey. Guitarist Dylan Scott, bassist Julian Dimagiba, and drummer Steve Patrick, who had played together in various bands since high school, caught an acoustic set by Ohio-born singer, songwriter, and guitarist Andy Tongren in a New York City bar. Realizing that this was the voice they needed in their band, Scott, Dimagiba, and Patrick asked Tongren to join. The chemistry in the new quartet was immediate; influenced by classic pop acts like the Beatles and the Temptations, and by the melodic hard rock of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, and others, Young Rising Sons developed a bright, modern hard pop sound with electronic accents and edgy lyrics that won them fans whenever they played.
Signing with the New York-based production company Dirty Canvas Music, the band released a regional single, "High," which garnered a lot of attention in the press and received a good deal of local airplay. The single in turn led to a deal with Interscope Records, which set the band to work recording a self-titled debut EP. "High" from the EP racked up over ten million streams, and later the same year, they released the track "Habits (Stay High)," which became another solid hit, with more than 3.5 million online plays. Young Rising Sons released a second EP, The Kids Will Be Fine, in 2015, which featured yet another song about getting messed up, "F**ked Up," that also became a digital hit. In May 2016, Dylan Scott left the band. Five months later, the group released their first music since his departure, the three-song EP Undefeatable +2. A non-album single, "Carry On," appeared in February 2017, followed in 2018 by a second non-album track "+WHISKEY-." ~ Steve Leggett & Mark Deming
