Acerca de The Boyfriends
The British indie pop band the Boyfriends features Martin Wallace (vocals), Richard Adderley (guitar), David Barnett (bass), and Paddy Pulzer (drums). The initial founding of the London group dates back to 1999 when Wallace and Adderley wrote their first two songs together. Wallace, who was awestruck by Suede's 1993 performance of "Metal Mickey" on Top of the Pops, had been asked to compose a few tracks for a local indie label. The deal never came to fruition; however, Wallace and Adderley continued working together to ultimately create the Boyfriends with Pulzer and Barnett in 2002. The following June, the Boyfriends played their first gig to a near sold-out audience that included the Jesus and Mary Chain's Jim Reid. A split release with Sheffield pop act the Long Blondes followed in 2005. Around this time, Morrissey also caught wind of the Boyfriends' growing popularity, in turn choosing the band to open for him on his European tour in 2006. The Boyfriends' self-titled debut album arrived in the U.K. in early October; its first single, "Once Upon a Time," just barely missed the U.K. Top Ten its first week out. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
