Acerca de Mu
Founder and member of A Cor Do Som, Mu has had his compositional talent confirmed by the hits "Sapato Velho," "Coisas do Coração" (with Paulinho Tapajós), "Minha Pequena Princesa" (with Paulinho Tapajós), "Terra do Nunca" (with Aldir Blanc), and by the music written for the soundtracks of the films A Dama do Lotação, Os Sete Gatinhos, Navalha na Carne (all by Neville de Almeida), O Noviço Rebelde, Xuxa Requebra, and Xuxa Popstar (all by Tizuka Yamazaki). His first solo album was the LP Meu Continente Encontrado (1985), that had the special participation of Luís Eça, Egberto Gismonti, and Zé Luiz. As a sideman on live performances and recordings, Mu has worked with artists like Chico Buarque, Jorge Ben Jor, MPB-4, Alceu Valença, Moraes Moreira, Fernanda Abreu, Legião Urbana, Luís Caldas, Paulinho Moska, Gabriel O Pensador, and Marina Lima. Also a producer, Mu received a 15-diamond CD for his work for the collection Bíblia Sagrada, which sold over 15 million copies.
Mu debuted in the artistic career at 16 in the group Semente. In 1974, he became a member of Jorge Ben's Banda do Zé Pretinho. In the next year, the group that would be known as A Cor Do Som (Mu, his brother Dadi, Gustavo, and Armandinho) was Moraes Moreira's support band and recorded his first album. In 1976, Mu wrote "Sapato Velho" (with Cláudio Nucci/Paulinho Tapajós). The song became a hit and was re-recorded several times, which confirmed Mu as a composer. His "Espírito Infantil" was classified with fifth place in the first National Choro Festival, organized by TV Bandeirantes. In 1978, Mu backed up Gilberto Gil at the Montreux Festival (Switzerland) and in his tour through France, Argentina, and Brazil. In 1990, he toured with Legião Urbana through Brazil, also participating in the group's live recorded album Música Para Acampamento. ~ Alvaro Neder
