Mohit Chauhan is an Indian pop star turned playback singer, known for his work on films in the Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages.
∙ As the lead singer of the pop band Silk Route, Chauhan had his first hit with “Dooba Dooba,” from their critically acclaimed 1998 debut album, Boondein. ∙ He made his playback-singing debut in 2002 with “Pehli Nazar Mein,” a duet with Sunidhi Chauhan from the thriller Road. ∙ His popularity soared in 2007 with the romantic ballad “Tum Se Hi” from hit rom-com Jab We Met, which had the second-best-selling Bollywood soundtrack of the year. ∙ Chauhan made his animated-film debut in the 2008 Indian version of the US dog tale Bolt, singing the song “I Thought I Lost You” in Hindi. ∙ “Masakali,” his hit from the 2009 drama Delhi-6, earned a prestigious Filmfare Award and a Mirchi Music Award, the first of Chauhan’s many career accolades. ∙ The 2020 video for “Taare Ginn,” from Dil Bechara—based on the novel The Fault in Our Stars—has more than 50 million views.
