Lion
Acerca de Lion
British hard rock quartet Lion was formed in 1983 after ex-Tytan vocalist Kal Swan relocated from London to Los Angeles -- there he teamed with drummer Mark Edwards, fresh off a tenure in the band Steeler alongside guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. After beginning work on a demo recording, Swan and Edwards recruited guitarist Doug Aldrich and erstwhile Mansfield bassist Jerry Best to round out the Lion lineup, and in 1984 the group made its recorded debut with "Love Is a Lie," a contribution to the Friday the 13th Part 4 soundtrack. Two years later, Lion returned with Power Love, a six-song EP released solely to the Japanese market, and after recording the title theme for the Transformers animated film, they signed to Scotti Brothers to issue their first full-length effort, 1987's Dangerous Attraction. The Grand Slam label release, Trouble in Angel City, followed in 1989, but in September of that year, Edwards suffered a broken neck after falling off a cliff while competing in a motorcycle race -- Lion disbanded a month later, with Swan and Aldrich later reuniting in Bad Moon Rising. The latter went on to serve with Dio and Whitesnake. ~ Jason Ankeny
