Acerca de Audrey Lavine
b. Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. Lavine studied classical music, graduating from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a degree in opera. Throughout the 70s and 80s, she played numerous prestigious club and concert dates, mainly in the New York area and other east coast locations. She appeared in the Ladies Of Off-Broadway series, and at the Kennedy Center in a tribute to George Gershwin. Her shows paying tribute to the music of Harold Arlen and Stephen Sondheim were a part of Citicorp Salute to Great American Songwriters. Arising from this latter performance was an engagement on a world cruise of the SS Rotterdam. In 2001, she won Bistro magazine’s award as Outstanding Vocalist and the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award (Female Vocalist), for her shows This Is No Dream and Dancing. She was also nominated for a Nightlife Award (Outstanding Cabaret Female Vocalist) for her show Simply Lavine. Her theatrical work includes being stand by or understudy to some of Broadway’s leading ladies, including Judy Kaye in Songbook: A Tribute To Mooney Shapiro, Betty Buckley and Barbara Cook in Carrie, and Teresa Stratas in Rags (appearing on the Broadway cast recording as Rosa). She has also appeared in regional theatre in many parts of the USA. Lavine’s singing is eloquent and she ably evokes the mood of her chosen repertoire.
