Offering up a heady mix of alt-rock, reggae, mariachi, and French indie pop, Canadian genre-benders Armistice formed in 2010 around the talents of Montreal singer/songwriter Béatrice Martin, who goes by the stage name Cœur de Pirate, and Bedouin Soundclash guitarist and vocalist Jay Malinowski. The duo released its eponymous debut EP, which was recorded with the help of members from American hardcore punk outfit/mariachi revivalists the Bronx, in 2011. ~ James Christopher Monger
