Known for her effervescence, Madison Beer is a pop singer and actress from Long Island, New York. A music lover and experimenter from an early age, Beer started posting YouTube videos of herself singing covers of varied well-known songs as a 13-year-old in 2012. That summer, pop idol Justin Bieber came across her version of Etta James' "At Last" and shared it with his over 25 million Twitter followers. The resulting media coverage led to a record deal with Island Records and a management deal with Bieber's manager the following year. Around that time, she was also cast in a small role in the independent film Louder Than Words, which starred David Duchovny and made its film festival premiere late in 2013. Her debut single, the poppy, melismatic "Melodies," also appeared late that year, and was followed by "Unbreakable" in 2014. Her vocals have appeared on other artists' songs, including Cody Simpson's "Valentine" and the 2015 club track "I Won't Let You Walk Away" by Mako. Beer delivered the moody breakup single "Dead" in May 2017, followed in November by "Say It to My Face." Both songs were later included on her debut EP, 2018's As She Pleases, which also spawned the single "Home." The album cracked the Top 90 of the Billboard 200. That same year, she issued the non-album single "Hurts Like Hell," featuring Offset. ~ Marcy Donelson
