Acerca de Los Parranderos de Medianoche
Los Parranderos de Medianoche is an alternative corrido and norteño band from Coachella, California. They have risen dramatically from their humble roots and independent recordings to become a radio/video/charting powerhouse for Sony Latin's DEL Records. nnThe group was formed in June of 2006 by accordionist/vocalist Arturo Aviles and lead singer Abel Sarmiento. They began performing as a duo, often backing other artists in the studio and in live performances. In 2007, they added percussionist Alvaro Leon Sanchez and bassist Jimmy Zepeda to the lineup.nnThe same year, they recorded their debut offering, El Hijo del Mochomo for the independent Titan label. The set featured guest performances from Jose "El Chito" Rivera, Mi Compita Freddy, Julio Diaz, Los Hnos. Beltran, and El Padrino. The record got airplay in Southern California and in Northwest Mexico, prompting the band to follow up with 2008's Canciones Para Grandes on Quintin. Again, regional airplay garnered them interest from a number of booking agents and the group began to tour in the Southern California and Mexico. Another album for Quintin, Parrandero CIen Pour Ciento, was issued in 2009. By now, Los Parranderos de Medianoche had established themselves with a stellar live reputation and could be relied on to deliver traditional corridos with a modern lyrical bent. A compilation recording, Las Cascaritas en Culiacan: 22 Exitos, was issued by new label Central Producciones in late 2010, bringing their earlier hits to an ever expanding audience; it was followed quickly with a new studio offering, El Borrachito y el Chino.nnLos Parranderos de Medianoche established a formidable MySpace fan page; that same year they issued their own live-in-the-studio fan offering, El Compa Gutierrez. nnThe quartet's constant touring and recording paid off; they had established a reputation throughout Mexico and the Southwestern United States. They were playing bigger halls and opening for top-tier artists as well as hitting the regional charts and they began headlining their own tours.nnIn 2012, their first three recordings were reissued just as La Otra de la Otra appeared on Cosalteco Producciones. Their continued chart success resulted in the group signing to DEL Records. In 2013, the live offering Disco en Vivo appeared, but just before the end of the year, the smash El C.G. 55 , their debut for the Sony-affiliated label, was released. The studio album hit the Top Ten on Billboard's Mexican Regional charts in early 2014, thanks in no small part to the timely single "El Chapo Guzman 55," which was featured in both corrido and norteño versions on the album.
