Trio Mossoró
Acerca de Trio Mossoró
Formed in the early '50s by Carlos André Batista, an accordionist who had already worked at Rádio Tapuyo (Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte), the Trio Mossoró formed when Carlos André moved to Rio de Janeiro, adding the siblings João Batista (João Mossoró) and Hermelinda Batista (Ana Paula). Named after their home town, the trio found their way in Rio de Janeiro after Carlos André's experience, who was already performing at radios Mayrink Veiga and Nacional. The work of the trio was acknowledged in 1954 when they where paid homage with a ceremony in the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, having been awarded with the most prestigious Euterpe trophy. Their first LP came in 1962, Rua do Namoro. Having success with the Northeastern genres joined under the umbrella of forró, the group recorded a number of widely popular LPs like Trinta Dias de Forró and Forró do Mexe-Mexe. With the end of the group in 1972, its members followed individual careers. ~ Alvaro Neder
