Acerca de The go Set
Melbourne, Australia's the Go Set were formed in 2002 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Justin Keenan, whose approach fuses a heavy punk attack with traditional instrumentation and Celtic folk influences. Citing the inspiration of artists like the Pogues, the Clash, Midnight Oil, and Billy Bragg, the band introduced its signature sound with 2004's Sing a Song of Revolution, an energetic set with strong political and socially aware undertones. For their 2006 follow-up, The Hungry Mile, they pegged another hero in Radio Birdman's Rob Younger to produce. Expanding their sound with a more folk-oriented direction, 2007's A Journey for a Nation became a critical breakthrough for the Go Set, earning strong reviews throughout Australia and New Zealand. Continuing a prolific run, Keenan and the group quickly followed up in 2008 with their fourth LP, Rising, which saw them return to their heavier punk roots. While maintaining a heavy touring schedule that saw them hit New Zealand, Japan, and especially Europe, they managed to deliver their first live album, Another Round in Melbourne Town, and a studio EP, Fallen Fortunes. Released in 2012, a self-titled studio effort featured a more stripped-down, rock-oriented style and was followed by three more years of hard touring in Europe and North America. Retreating to a seaside studio on Victoria's coast, they completed work on their sixth studio album and first major-label release, 2015's Rolling Sound. It was accompanied by a DVD release, These Are the Days. ~ Timothy Monger
